Online Event: Loaded Nachos (Kids and Teenagers)

Join us for an interactive online cookery class for kids and teenagers making loaded nachos with either a beef or vegetarian chilli, plus guacamole, plus salsa.  Just show up via Zoom and follow along, ask any questions and have lots of fun making something delicious to share with the family.

This class will be a small group, led by Becca the owner of The Natural Cook Company and experienced children’s cookery teacher. We will be cooking for around 1 hour but Becca is always happy to carry on if needed or if anyone has questions. During the session Becca will be able to spot if things are not quite going to plan and help get each child back on track.

These sessions are aimed for the kids to cook themselves although we do ask for an adult to be in the room if possible if the child is younger as sometimes we will require boiling water or other items that might require ‘in person’ supervision.

It’s always handy to have an adult around to for those unexpected technical issues or if you notice your child has got left behind you can give us a shout and we can make sure we catch them up.

 

INSTRUCTIONS

Ingredients needed (enough for 2 people, double up if feeding a family):
1 x small onion
3 x garlic clove
½ red pepper (chopped)
200g beef mince
400g passata or chopped tomatoes
½ can of kidney beans
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 x beef stock cube (dissolved in 100ml boiling water)
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp chilli powder (or to taste)
Olive oil
1 x bag nachos/tortilla chips (or rice if you prefer to nachos)
Grated cheddar
Sour cream
1 ripe avocado, flesh scooped out
1 lime
2 medium/large ripe tomatoes (or ½ small punnet cherry tomatoes)
Sea salt
¼ small/medium red onion, finely diced
Optional:
1 mild chilli
Approx. 2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander (including stalks)

You will need:
Sharp knife
Chopping board
Saucepan
Teaspoon measure
Jug
Spoon to stir
3 teaspoons (or dessert spoons)
Garlic press (if you have one, not essential if you don’t)
Zester (if you have one, not essential if you don’t)
3 x bowl (to hold vegetables once cooked temporarily, and to mix guacamole and salsa)
